I believe that every person needs a certain dimension of mysticism in their life, because I truly think that being, in its essence, is one great mystery. Our mind has flattened the depth of life into two-dimensional banality. From the perspective of the human logical mind, life appears as a linear timeline that begins with birth and ends with death, failing to see the depths hidden within existence itself.

I have been called one of the mystics of Estonian art. Perhaps that is an exaggeration, yet this dimension is not so difficult to notice. It sits within us at all times, waiting for a quiet moment of stillness to be discovered. It is all around us — most easily perceived, perhaps, in the endless cycles of emergence and disappearance in nature.

I try to express this dimension through my art, or rather, it is this feeling that seeks to express itself through me.

The twelve new paintings created in spring and summer are imbued with this pleasant state of being a mediator, and with the hope that this feeling will also radiate outward from my works.
